Meet our family
Home Comforts is a family owned and operated, faith based, full service home health care agency serving the greater Chattanooga area. Since 1997 we have helped hundreds of families deal with some of life’s most difficult situations. We are here for you whether you need assistance while recuperating from surgery or someone to provide 24/7 care for an aging loved one, or anything in between.
Our family has a legacy of serving the needs of others. We grew up watching our parents serve our church doing everything from working in the nursery to teaching Sunday School to running a recreational outreach program for the community.
When our mom got a nursing degree she began caring for the elderly in their homes. She included us in that activity and those she cared for became like family. And that kind of care became our family’s mission.
From this foundation, Home Comforts came to be. A third generation is now involved in ministering to the needs of others through the services provided by our company. We have personally faced the situations you are dealing with and understand the feelings and desires that you have for your family members that need assistance and care.
The “family” has expanded over the years to include a large staff of highly qualified, well trained, loving caregivers with a wide range of expertise and experience.

Peggy Taylor
Peggy Bates Taylor is the Founder and President of Home Comforts. Growing up, she was inspired by her Mom, Barbara Bates, to enter the health care arena. She worked as a caregiver while in nursing school and as an RN at Erlanger Hospital she became aware of the tremendous need for home health care options. She watched her Mom function as the “ultimate caregiver” for many years and knew how important it was. She also knew that her mom was constantly helping caregivers and patients connect. So, in 1997 they combined their talents and experience to form the ministry of Home Comforts. From the beginning, down through the years and into the future, it’s always been about our family helping your family care for those you love.
Steve Bates
Steve Bates is the Marketing Consultant for Home Comforts. He is a member of the Home Comforts family in many ways. He is actually a brother to Peggy Taylor, President of Home Comforts and the oldest child of Barbara Bates, long time Operations Manager. He has also worked as a caregiver for the last 8 years and spent much of 2019 caring for his dad during his final battle with dementia. So he understands what is needed from all angles of the home health experience. Combine this with his years in ministry, media production and marketing for other faith based organizations and he is uniquely qualified to meet the needs of Home Comforts as we work to make sure that we recruit the best caregivers and provide outstanding services to our clients.
